One-a-Day...for the Heart: Angel Care

Even Jesus needed the help of angels, so why wouldn’t we? When Satan tempted Him in the wilderness, and He resisted, the devil went away, and angels came and took care of Jesus (Matthew 4:11 NLT). They took care of Jesus. Wow. What was that like? Effective certainly, because along with excelling in wisdom to know all things that are in the earth (2 Samuel 14:20) and in strength (Bless the Lord, you His angels, who excel in strength, who do His word, Psalm 103:20), angels have great authority and might, AND they never get tired!

Jesus got tired and discouraged, just as we do. In the Garden of Gethsemane, during His arduous time of prayer, He was strengthened and comforted by an angel, as evidenced in Luke 22:43 (NLT), then an angel from heaven appeared and strengthened Him. In fact, when the angel strengthened Him, the verse continues, He prayed more fervently, and He was in such agony of spirit that His sweat fell to the ground like great drops of blood (verse 44).

Angels are potent agents in spiritual warfare, and that night Jesus needed the supernatural strength of Heaven’s armies so He could persevere in prayer as imminent death hung over Him. His ineffectual prayer team of Peter, James, and John had fallen asleep at the wheel. Psalm 103:20-21 proclaims Praise the Lord, you angels, you mighty ones who carry out His plans, listening for each of His commands. Yes, praise the Lord, you armies of angels who serve Him and do His will!

When we proclaim the Word of God out loud, we are declaring it to the entire unseen world of evil powers and principalities, the Father, and the armies of Heaven. As the Father hears our proclamations, He directs angels to help us—they are all ministering spirits sent forth to minister for those who will inherit salvation (Hebrews 1:14).

Angel care is a multifaceted ministry. Do you need help today—perhaps encouragement, healing, protection, or wisdom? Tell the Father (not angels), then proclaim that my God shall supply all my needs, according to His riches in glory (Philippians 4:19). Proclaim scriptures appropriate for the situations in your life, your family’s, our country, the world. Angels will be listening for each of God’s commands in response to your prayers. They are ready for

A-C-T-I-O-N!! Angel armies are poised to help us, just as they helped Jesus in a most desperate hour of need.
